Porque hoje estréia Legally Blonde 2 nos cinemas do país, o jornal The Sac Bee publicou uma lista de loiras do cinema. Algumas delas:
Girl-next-door blondes
Shining example: Reese Witherspoon tops a long list of perky, wholesome blondes who are really, really nice to everybody.
Highlights: Meg Ryan, Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson, Jennifer Aniston.
Roots: Doris Day, Debbie Reynolds, Sandra Dee.
Really plastic blondes
Shining example: Barbie. Yes, she comes with other haircolors, but her iconic image, since her birth in a factory in 1959, is strictly blond.
Highlights: Farrah Fawcett during her big-hair days came pretty close to a human version of the Total-Hair Barbie. Pamela Anderson rivals Barbie when it comes to factory-made parts.
Roots: Barbie. Really, nobody can compete.
Goddess blondes
Shining example: Beyoncé Knowles is the golden star of the moment, singing and acting her way to the top.
Highlights: Tennis player Anna Kournikova and actresses Michelle Pfeiffer, Kim Basinger, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kate Bosworth, Jessica Simpson, Heather Graham, Kate Hudson, Charlize Theron and Keira Knightley.
Roots: Marilyn Monroe is the most enduring icon of the goddess blonde. Others on the pedestal: Jean Harlow, Greta Garbo (who wanted to be alone with her hair) and Veronica Lake.
No-regrets blondes
Shining example: Madonna. It doesn’t matter how bad the reviews, this is one performer who challenges the status quo and never says she’s sorry.
Highlights: Dolly Parton, the country music star, is unapologetic and slow to take offense: “I’m not offended by dumb-blonde jokes because I know that I’m not dumb. I also know I’m not blond.”
Roots: Mae West started out brunet but went blond in her 20s and never looked back.
Classy blondes
Shining example: Gwyneth Paltrow oozes aristocracy.
Highlights: Princess Diana, actresses Catherine Deneuve, Dame Judi Dench, Meryl Streep, Candice Bergen and Nicole Kidman. (Honorary member: Prince William of England).
Roots: Grace Kelly, who went from a screen princess to a true royal when she married Monaco’s prince.
Not-so-classy blondes
Shining example: Anna Nicole Smith is in a crass of her own. Her reality-TV show proves that some blondes have more funds than taste. Tune in for mud-wrestling.
Highlights: Courtney Love, rock ‘n’ roller known for belligerence and smeared lipstick. Paris Hilton, the hotel heiress who is known more for partying than being polite.
Roots: Zsa Zsa Gabor, famous mostly for being famous and vulgar with a cute accent.
High-volume blondes
Shining example: Do we need to remind you, baby, one more time, that Britney Spears is the ruling blond pop princess?
Highlights: Singers Mary J. Blige, Eve and onetime “American Idol” competitor Frenchie Davis are on a growing list of African American performers who have gone blond. Shakira, Avril Lavigne, No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani (who has been tapped by Martin Scorsese to play another blonde, Jean Harlow, in a biopic about Howard Hughes) are all singing blondes. Cristina Saralegui, TV-show host, is a talking blonde whose autobiography is subtitled “My Life as a Blonde.”
Roots: Carol Channing, Charo and Deborah Harry (without her, the band Blondie wouldn’t have lived up to its name.)
Ditzy blonde
Shining example: Cameron Diaz, who manages to stay goofy while kicking up a storm as one of “Charlie’s Angels.”
Highlights: Goldie Hawn, Drew Barrymore, Brittany Murphy, Renée Zellwegger, Jennifer Coolidge (the beautician sidekick in both “Legally Blonde” movies).
Roots: Barbara Eden on “I Dream of Jeannie“, Elizabeth Montgomery on “Bewitched” and, from the world of comic strips, Dagwood’s wife, Blondie.
Power blondes
Shining example: Hillary Clinton, former first lady and current senator from New York.
Highlights: Newswomen Diane Sawyer, Leslie Stahl and Barbara Walters, commentator Ann Coulter, Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, legally challenged domestic doyenne Martha Stewart, Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling.
Roots: Queen Elizabeth I, who died in 1603, started out with auburn hair but later took to wearing a blond wig.
